The report had allegedly been provided to Kushner by the CIA. Kushner's advisers and associates have told the Times they have no knowledge of Kushner discussing the Khashoggi murder with MBS, and the email chain obtained by the Times shows at least one such meeting is documented between Kushner and MBS — on March 15, 2017. Afterward, Kushner emailed Ben Rhodes, the former deputy national security adviser, with what appears to be a summary of the meeting, including MBS' views on the crown prince's allies being installed by Iran into key positions in neighboring Yemen. At least two senior Trump administration officials have acknowledged that Kushner was actively communicating with MBS, possibly in violation of the protocols that govern members of the president's national security team, like Kushner. White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders, when asked about the reports, told the Times, "I don’t know what the New York Times is referring to."
